For a set T of rooted binary leaf-labelled trees, we present an algorithm that finds all of the minor-minimal trees that are compatible with T . The running time of this algorithm is polynomial up to the number of trees with this property. This type of problem arises in several areas of classification, particularly evolutionary biology.

Efficient Generation of Rooted Trees

In this paper we give an algorithm to generate all rooted trees with at most n vertices. The algorithm generates each tree in constant time on average. Furthermore the algorithm is simple, and clarifies a simple relation among the trees, that is a family tree of trees, and outputs trees based on the relation.
